The National Naval Aviation Museum Opens to Civilians This Weekend (Temporarily)
March 25, 2023 8:45am
The National Naval Aviation Museum has been closed to civilians since the December 6, 2019 terrorist attack on the base. But it is opening to the public this weekend only.
Long terms plans are still unknown. But today and tomorrow, from 9:00am - 3:00pm, Department of Defense ID cards will not be required to get aboard NAS Pensacola. All civilians must use the West Gate at the south end of Blue Angel Parkway. And all guests 18 and older must have a valid state or federal identification with photo.
To celebrate the temporary opening (although I wish it was a permanent reopening), this morning's Mike Bates Show featured museum historian and Deputy Director Hill Goodspeed. We discussed the history of naval aviation and the museum itself. That episode is now archived online as a podcast at www.TheMikeBatesShow.com/podcasts/230325
